Cyber Bullying - Stay Safe Online |
||
|
Cyber bullying can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. It can take place through social media, text messages, group chats, online gaming, live streams, emails, websites, and apps. It may involve abusive messages, threats, spreading rumours, sharing photos without permission, fake accounts, harassment, intimidation, or repeatedly targeting someone online.
Cyber bullying can have lasting effects on a person's mental health, confidence, education, work, and relationships. Victims may feel anxious, depressed, isolated, scared, or unwilling to go online or attend school.
If you are being bullied online: Parents and carers should encourage children to speak openly about their online experiences and reassure them that they will be supported.
If you witness cyber bullying, do not join in. Support the victim, encourage them to report it, and tell a trusted adult.
Remember, words and actions online can have real-world consequences. Think before you post, be respectful to others, and help make the internet a safer place for everyone.
